What to bring and what to expect at your appointment.

Before you arrive

Please review these details before you arrive so your appointment can be completed efficiently.

Practical details

Identification
  • Bring original, valid government-issued photo identification.
  • Common examples include a driver’s licence, passport, Alberta identification card, Permanent Resident Card, Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Canadian Armed Forces identification.
  • Photocopies, screenshots and digital images are not accepted.
Documents, originals & copies
  • Bring the complete document package, including every page and attachment.
  • Complete all required information beforehand, but leave any signature that must be witnessed unsigned.
  • Bring all originals and copies needed for the service. For a certified true copy, bring the original document and the copy to be certified.
  • Printing and photocopying services are not available.
Signing & attendance
  • Do not sign a document beforehand if your signature needs to be witnessed.
  • Anyone whose signature needs to be witnessed must attend the appointment in person.
  • If the receiving organization gave you specific signing or notarization instructions, bring them with you.
Appointment length
  • Most straightforward appointments are completed in about 15 minutes.
  • Appointments involving multiple documents or additional requirements may take longer.
Cancellations & rescheduling
  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Location & mobile appointments
  • In-office appointments are held in Sylvan Lake.
  • Mobile appointments are available within Sylvan Lake by request and are subject to the current mobile fee.
After-hours & other details
  • Evening and short-notice appointments may be available.
  • Please contact me before your appointment if the document is not in English or if anything about your booking has changed.

Right to refuse service

I reserve the right to decline or stop a notarial service where I cannot properly or lawfully complete the requested act.

  • Satisfactory identification cannot be provided or a required signer is not present.
  • The document is incomplete, false, misleading, deceptive or appears fraudulent.
  • There are concerns about a signer’s understanding, willingness or freedom from pressure or coercion.
  • The requested service is outside my authority or cannot otherwise be completed lawfully.
